What to buy ? Generic medicines or brand medicines?

It is a common well known truth that medications in America are quiet expensive. Spending my whole salary on prescribed brand medications would be a complete madness. I have searched for years for a solution to find a way to save my earnings on prescribed medications. My pharmacist offered me instead of brand name medication a generic version of it. I was so surprised as I never knew what generics are. I have figured out that there are lots of people like me. They have no idea that there is a way to save some money on prescription drugs. Well my article is for those who want to save their cash. I will try to explain shortly what generic medications are.

A generic drug is a product that is identical to the brand drug in its dosage, form, strength, route of administration, quality and performance characteristics, and intended use. Generic medications are the equal form of the brand name product being in the same time effective and considerably cheaper. The high prices of brand medications and their shortages on the market made many pharmaceutical companies think of a subtituent. This way born generic medications. There are lots of countries which addopted the usage of generic drugs by Law. In the USA the generic medications are being under the control of Food and Drug Administration, by meeting the same strict regulations for safety and efficacy.

I would like to bring some arguments in the favor of generic medications. What is the main difference and plus between Brand Name Medications and Generic Medications? Why the prices between these two differ so much? Well Brand name manufacturer’s inventing a medication buy an exclusive ownership for their drug. As consequence no other company has got the right to produce the same medication until their ownership expires. The manufacturer of Brand Nme medication have the exclusive right over it. They are the only one’s who control the price of it on the market. However the manufacurers of generic medications found a wonderful solution by creating Brand Name quivalent called Generic Medications being more accessible, cheaper and easy to buy. Based on my experience I have already understood the benefits of Generic medication for me. Why should I overpay for a Brand name drug if I can get a considerably cheaper Generic versio of it?!

I used to think if something is cheaper it should be of poorer quality. Now I have completely changed my mind. Well there are several opinions over the generic medications. If these are being considerably cheaper aren’t these less effective? As a matter of fact FDA strictly regulates and controls that generic drugs have the same effect and quality as brand name drugs. The truth is that its manufacturers of generic drugs have not invested in the development and its promotion so they can offer a cheaper drug at the equal quality. I used to think so before I started using generic medications. I have also been sure that generic medications don’t have the same effect and are longer in action. This is not truth. I am using generics for many years and have found that these have the same effect over me and take the same for action over my body.

You know there are so many myths about generic medications. Personally I have understood one thing as much there will be brand name manufacturers they will always try to damage the image of generic medications. Despite all myths and opinions I am sure that I am using the right medicines, by saving my money.
